About Us

The Salt Lake Donated Dental Services (SLDDS) serves people who have no other options. We serve older people who must choose between filling a prescription and losing a tooth, young people who have never seen a Dentist, mentally challenged people of all ages and those who suddenly find themselves forced onto the streets on into poverty because of a crisis.

The SLDDS has provided almost four million dollars worth of free dental treatment to the community in the past decade. For every dollar we receive, we are able to return three dollars worth of care to the homeless and poor. There are no insurance plans affordable to the poor that do cover the basic dental services offered by SLDDS. Without operating funds, the SLDDS cannot provide services to this part of the population. Without the SLDDS, the people who fall through the medical/dental cracks will loose the teeth that they need to smile without embarrassment, obtain gainful employment, and chew food for proper nutrition.
Each day the doors of the SLDDS are open we are able to give needy people some of the best dental care they have ever had. We see people walk into our waiting room with fear and pain on their faces. We are able to see these same people walk out later with much less fear, much more optimism for the future, confidence to seek an interview for a job…and usually with a smile. Most important, these people look us in the eye and thank us for helping them when no one else would.
