Practice Environment: The mission of the Dental Volunteer Corps is to preserve the oral health of patients who are homeless or indigent. The treatment philosophy is a comprehensive, progressive one: save a tooth whenever feasible. Many features distinguish Salt Lake's program from others in the country!
There are six operatories built from the ground up for Indigent Care. Equipment includes a Panorex and other leading-edge technology for general restorative work including endodontics, peds, prosthetics and oral surgery.
Emergencies are triaged between 8:30-9:00 am and 1-1:30 pm; appointments throughout the day. Timely follow-ups and impressive turnaround times are assured.
An active Clinical Committee coordinates patient care protocols.

All Dental Professionals Needed!
|
Dentists of all types can have a full schedule. The Salt Lake Donated Dental Services (SLDDS) is staffed by both active and retired Dentists (average age 52). The Clinic also serves as a training site for Dental Assistants and Hygienists.
Dental Hygienists can also contribute by volunteering services anywhere from half-day a month to a few days every quarter. (We do have professionals who come weekly, others for a full day and some bring their own assistants.)

There is likely no facility like ours in the country; it is a true credit to this community and your profession; likewise, the range of service is a broad one. All dental assistants are qualified at the Expanded Duties level. They tend to over-document and take the extra step to assure everyone's total security and safety when here.
