There continue to be limited resources within the community
for the indigent with urgent dental care needs. Each year, nearly
10,000 individuals seek care at SLDDS. Unfortunately, SLDDS
is forced to turn away many not because of inadequate facilities
or a lack of volunteers but due to insufficient funding. As
an organization that provides our services at no charge to the
patient, as the number of patients we treat increase so do our
operating costs. Your generous support will change lives by
enabling our volunteer dental professionals to continue donating
this valuable and much needed service.
Last year, 81% of all revenue SLDDS received was from
private sources:
• Less than 1% corporate sponsors
• 48% foundations
• 11% private donors and
• 21% fundraising
Public funds made up 19% of SLDDS’ revenue in
2009:
• 13% was CDBG funding
• Less than 1% from Medicaid / PCN / CHIP &
• 6% from the Utah State Primary Care Grant
Throughout 2009 SLDDS received $262,907 in donations made in-kind.
